Director to thank for play choice

Foxton Little Theatre guest director Matt Kilsby-Halliday

Foxton Little Theatre has guest director Matt Kilsby-Halliday to thank for choosing An Unseasonable Fall Of Snow, which opened at the weekend.

Matt, who has been in community theatre for almost 30 years, has performed on stage at Foxton before, though had only recently tried his hand at directing, encouraged by audience responses. An Unseasonable Fall of Snow is his first time directing for the historic Foxton theatre, and he was brave enough to mix it up a bit.

“I’m really excited to show Foxton what I can bring to their theatre,” he says. “I’ve been intrigued by this piece for years and hoped to one day get the opportunity to present it.

“I had long discussions with theatre friends about the themes and discussions in the text and collectively we came to the idea of twisting one of the characters slightly. The cast have been working incredibly hard to bring this to life. I hope you enjoy the ride.”

Written by acclaimed New Zealand playwright Gary Hendersen, the play has just three characters; Audrey (Ellise Buckley), Liam (Navah Chapman) and Toni (Kiana White).

It’s a psychological thriller centred around the interrogation of a bewildered young man.

Warning: the play has strong language and simulated violence. It continues on Friday and Saturday nights until May 10.
