Auckland-based filmmaker, cinema-owner and producer Robin Kewell is coming to Levin to present the special one-off screening of What About Me? there on Sunday night.

It begged the question. Why? What is the attraction with this film?

He says he’s coming to Levin to visit friends, but saw that as a good chance to share and promote What about Me?

“Of the thousands of movies over the years, this is one I would take with me wherever I went,” he says. “I would show it anywhere. The film’s message is amazing.

“It shows us the common language is music. It will fill you with joy.”

What About Me? is the work of filmmakers Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgemen, who have created a musical documentary after visiting 50 countries around the world over a period of four years.

They’ve added different music from around the world to the words of people like Noam Chomsky, Will Young, Maxi Jazz, Ram Dass, Gabrielle Roth, Tim Robbins, Billy Connelly and Michael Stipe to creating a “moving, memorable, must-see masterpiece”.

Robin says those conversations reveal how we are all connected, not only through creativity, but our beliefs.
